Homura-tachi: Beginning Stage One [Oct. 5th, 2004|11:23 pm]
Omnipotent: A Saiyuki Role Playing Community

Even after the room had been emptied of all but Zenon and himself, the phantom glow of divine auras hardly diminished – what little power Gairu and his minions had paled in comparison. Zenon and he had lived for many, many years, and those years weighed heavily on their immortal souls. The demons Homura had subjugated, on the other hand, were still in the cycle of reincarnation, still waiting to break out of samsara - compared to the Sanzo party, they were nothing. Sanzo and his companions were the candle, while Gairu and his henchmen were the moths that would immolate themselves upon that flame.

At one point, Shien suspected he would have protested, however subserviently, against such a frivolous waste of life. Now, however, he was only glad to see the crowd of once-demons gone. They had a purpose to serve, after all – to buy Homura time, to let them start the invocations that would ultimately bring the new world into being.

The god turned his head, just a fraction, towards the dark flicker that was his companion. “We return to Homura,” he stated simply, calmly. “We must initiate the first stage of the procedure for the new world.”

Zenon watched as the demons headed towards their doom, feeling no guilt about their deaths. They were just an expendable part of the plan that was being followed, and not worth thinking about.

He did not move until Shien did, waiting to see if his quiet companion would have anything to say. When all that came forth was what he had already known was the next step, he turned on his heel and headed back upstairs. They had a lot of work to do, and the demon fodder would only hold Sanzo and his friends back for so long. And then the real fight would begin. He grinned slightly as he walked up the stairs, fingers twitching on the strap across his chest. This was going to be fun.

The dark-haired god followed in silence, only the faintest whisper of his silk robes betraying his presence. There was no need to say anymore, after all: Homura had gone over this part in detail with them before, so that they would have no for failing out of ignorance. Now was the time to work quickly, and a single step missed or blundered could mean the end of all they had tried to accomplish.

To slip-up in a task that had taken five hundred years to set up would be... insulting to the pride, at the very least. And it would mean their lives at the worst.

Up the stairs they went, a wide marble affair with regal carpeting that ground under his slippered feet, winding up to the very peak of the demon tower. There they would find Homura, in the grand reception chamber that had been reserved for the largest of affairs – or at least it had been, when it was still ruled by demons – and to the intricate sigil painstakingly drawn on the tiled floor expressly for the purpose of creating the new world. It was one of the many things that would be the catalyst for the greatest creation to date.

Zenon edged open the wide double doors, and stepped inside the room where Homura awaited.
